Otis, Arickaree in 1A regionals

The Otis High School volleyball team is headed to regional.
The Bulldogs are the 10th seed in the 24-team regional field, heading to Simla on Friday for Region 7 with the host school Cubs and 18th-seed Prairie. They are 17-5, and went 5-0 to win the YWKC League title. They enter the postseason on a 13-match winning streak.
Otis will first play Prairie at approximately 3 p.m. Friday, then immediately take on Simla. Simla is 19-4, and Prairie is 12-10.Two wins will get the Bulldogs into the state tournament, next weekend in Denver. Other YWKC teams also reached the regional round. Idalia, which Otis beat in the regular season, is the fifth seed and will host Stratton and Evangelical Christian on Saturday. Arickaree also made the field as the 19th seed, traveling to sixth-seed Wiley on Friday in a regional that also features 11th-seed Briggsdale.
Otis closed out the regular season last Thursday with a 25-16, 25-19, 25-23 win over Weldon Valley. Rowan Tribelhorn had 21 kills, Madelyn Willeke nine, Kayce Perry five, Layce Perry four, Jaylin Weber three, and Arlene Bencomo two. Alli Hornung recorded 39 setting assists. Bencomo was 18-19 serving with three aces, Hornung 13-13, Tribelhorn 11-13, K. Perry 9-10 with one ace, L. Perry 9-10 with one ace, and Weber 9-9 with one ace.

ARICKAREE VOLLEYBALL
The Arickaree volleyball team has extended its season for at least one more week.
The Bison qualified for the Class 1A 24-team regional as the 19th seed. They will go to third-seed Wiley on Friday to take on the host team and 11th-seed Briggsdale, two wins away from advancing to the state tournament next week in Denver.
Arickaree is 16-7 entering the postseason, and have not played since a loss to Stratton on October 21.
Two other YWKC League teams have qualified for regional. League champion Otis is the 10th seed and travel to seventh-seed Simla for a regional that also includes 18th-seed Prairie. Idalia is the fifth seed, and will host Stratton and Evangelical Christian in Region 5 on Saturday.

LONE STAR
The Lone Star volleyball team saw its season come to an end last week. The Longhorns did not qualify for regional, going 7-16 in 2022. They ended their season last Friday with a 14-25, 15-25, 19-25 loss at home to Weldon Valley. Statistics were not available.
