Otis, Arickaree rolling in 6-man

The Otis High School football team continues to make an impact in 6-man football circles.
The Bulldogs are 3-0, 1-0 in League 2, heading into Friday’s league game at 0-3 Idalia, following last Friday’s 58-6 win over Hi-Plains in the 2022 home opener. They entered this week No. 4 in the 6-man Rating Percentage Index, and ranked No. 5 in the 6-man Top 10 (CHSAANow.com polls).
Otis wasted little time in taking control in its home opener, last Friday, racing out to a 38-0 lead in the first quarter. The Bulldogs led 52-0 by halftime.
They had 313 total yards, including 291 on the ground. Tayte Smith ran for 117 yards and three touchdowns on just six carriers, Mitchell Stivers 93 yards and one TD on six carries, Charlie Kendrick 69 yards and three touchdowns on four carries, Blake Stivers 10 yards, and Garrett Patterson four yards. Austin Hornung completed two of three passes for 24 yards and a touchdown. Emiliano Varela had both catches. Kendrick also made five of six two-point conversion kicks.
Defensively, Taylor Ringlein was in on five total tackles, M. Stivers four, Kendrick four, Jack Willeke four, Varela four, Bohden Klinzmann four, Peyton Wells four, Hornung three, Smith three, B. Stivers three, Jacob Perry three, Grady Bechtle two, Hayden Kirby one, and Eric Bintliff one. Kendrick and B. Stivers each recovered a fumble.

Arickaree beats the Wolves
The Arickaree football team is having itself a very good season so far in 2022.
The Bison are 3-0 overall, 1-0 in League 2, after a hard-fought 28-14 home win over Idalia, last Thursday. They are ranked No. 4 this week in the 6-man Top 10 (CHSAANow.com polls), and No. 7 in the Rating Percentage Index.
Arickaree is back in action Friday when the Bison travel to Briggsdale for a key game. The Falcons are 2-1, sitting at No. 11 in the RPI, and sitting just outside the Top 10 poll.
The Bison ran out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, last Thursday at home against Idalia. The Wolves, though, answered with 14 points in the second as the teams were tied at the intermission.
Arickaree came back with another 14 points in the third quarter, and the defense shutout the Wolves in the second half to win the league opener.
Logan Wright ran for 190 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries. He also completed 10 of 18 pass attempts for 131 yards and one touchdown. Jake King had three receptions for 77 yards and a TD, Dillon Noletubby 31 yards and two catches, and Bryce Shaffer 29 yards on three catches.
Defensively Zarron Skubal was in on 20 total tackles, L. Wright 17, Nic Hermes 16, Shaffer 16, Austin Wright 15, Hayden Page 12, King nine, and Jacob Jefferson and Noletubby one each. Skubal recovered two fumbles, and L. Wright one.
