Outlaws boys wrestling

Yuma High School’s boys wrestling team will pair up with the girls team and junior high for a series of duals Friday night in The Pit.

The Outlaws will be welcoming Burlington to town, beginning with junior high matches starting at 5 p.m.

The boys team then travels with the girls to Chase County in Imperial, Nebraska, on Saturday.

Yuma competed in the Garden County Invitational in Oshkosh, Nebraska, last Saturday. The Outlaws enjoyed a strong showing, placing fourth in the 24-team field with 120 points.

Daden Beauprez and Augi Montes de Oca led the way by winning the 190- and 120-pound titles.

Beauprez went 4-0 on the way to the title. All his wins came via decision, including 5-3 in the championship match.

Montes de Oca went 3-0. Two his wins came by fall, including in the second period of the championship match.

Esteban Gonzalez also reached the championship round, placing second at 120. He won his first three matches by fall fall, technical fall and decision, before losing a 9-5 decision in the final.

David Gaytan placed third at 132 with a 4-1 record. He lost in the semifinals by fall after holding a big lead, but came back with two wins in the consolation bracket capped by a pin in the third-place match.

Cooper Blach placed fourth at 106, going 4-2 as he came through the consolation bracket by losing his first match.

Dallas Brunk went 2-2 at 150, Tyson Hansen 2-2 at 175, Blake Stivers got one win at 138, Ethan Nadow one at 144, Jorge Ramos one at 165, and Anderson Habana one at 113.

The Outlaws also had a dual against Sedgwick County/Fleming in Haxtun last Thursday. Results were not available.
