Roy Hill 1934-2021

Roy was born 3/29/1934 to George and Elsie Hill in Pretty Prairie, Kansas and passed away 9/12/2021 at his home in Cope, Colorado. He moved with is family to Colorado in 1947 when his dad farmed Southeast of Cope.
Roy married Cleta Smith in October of 1953, and together reared 5 children: Steve (1954), Janice (1955), Cindy(1957), Dave(1958) and Denise(1960). They made their home in numerous places in Colorado where work would take them, settling in Cope in 1967 where Roy lived the remainder of his life. Throughout the years, he drove trucks for numerous people, raised greyhounds in the early to mid-1960’s, ran a dairy from 1967-1977, was pick-up man at numerous rodeos throughout the 1970’s, and raised cattle for himself and others. He loved his horses, cows and cow dogs. In the early 1990’s, he started his own haying business called Roy Hill Custom Swathing and Baling, which is still in operation today.
Roy was a very proud, hardworking man who loved the land, animals and his family. His “spare time” was spent working as there was always something that needed tended to.
He is survived by daughters Janice (Merl) Dinsmore, Cindy (Ron) Marshall, and Denise (Dave) Morrow. Grandkids Jason Dinsmore, Kristi (JJ) Roseberry, Marsha (Kevin) Jesse, Steve (Nicole) Marshall, Casey (Katie) Dinsmore, Jacquelynn (Troy) Engibous and Aaron Morrow. Great Grandkids Connor & McKenna Jesse, Haylee & Rylee Roseberry, Payton & Madyson Marshall, and Brynlee Dinsmore. Siblings Keith, Wayne, Dean, Harold (Wanda), Darrell (Connie), and Gary (Jackie) Hill, Mary (Herb) Davidson and Nita (Paul) Phillips, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elsie Hill, sons Steve and Dave Hill, sister Rosie Zimmerman, brother Glen Hill, sister-in-laws Elsie Hill, Alice Hill, Phyllis Hill, Hazel Hill and brother-in-law Peter Zimmerman.
A viewing was held at Baucke Funeral Home, 128 South Ash, Yuma, CO on Thursday, September 16. A funeral service was held at Cope Community Church in Cope, CO on Friday, September 17. Burial in Cope Cemetery followed the funeral services.
