Sections of N. Main to be closed for water work

The City of Yuma Water Department will be continuing their water line replacement program this month, with two blocks of water main being installed on N. Main St., between Railway Ave. and Foch Ave.
The project will be completed in two phases, with Phase One set to begin on Monday, August 10. Initially, North Main Street will be closed from Railway Avenue to Pershing Avenue. During Phase Two of the project, the road closure will move north from Pershing Avenue to Foch Avenue. North Birch Street and North Albany Street should be used as alternate routes around the construction project.
Residents will be asked to please not park along these portions of North Main Street beginning Monday, August 10. Heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, and dump trucks, will move in on Monday morning.
The scope of the project includes the installation of a new 12-inch water main, which will replace the existing 4-inch main. Additionally, service lines will be replaced from the main to each customer’s water meter. We anticipate this project being completed within a month’s time, barring unforeseen circumstances.
Concrete Specialties has been hired as the contractor for this project, with City Crews working alongside to provide support and assistance. Concrete Specialties has completed many capital projects in Yuma throughout the years, including recent water main installations along S. Main St., E. Third Ave., and S. Albany St.
