Straight-line winds do major damage in north-central YC

The thunderstorm that blew through the area last Saturday afternoon included damaging straight-line winds that wreaked havoc along Yuma County roads 47 and 48. Pictured left is a “H structure” power pole obliterated by the wind, and right is beat-down wheat. Yuma County Emergency Manager Roger Brown said Tri-State has informed him that 65 of the H structures went down. No one locally lost power as it is a pass-through transmission line.
