YC GOP meeting Sunday for Wiley replacement

The Yuma County Republican Central Committee will convene as the Vacancy Committee on Sunday to determine who to appoint to the Yuma County Board of Commissioners.

The District 3 seat has come open as Robin Wiley officially stepped down September 14 after 22 years as commissioner. The committee is comprised of 28 precinct committee leaders, county elected officials, county GOP officers, and any state elected officials residing in the county (of which there are none at this time).
The committee has 10 days from September 14 to choose a replacement. The Vacancy Committee meeting will be at the Eckley Community Center at 4 p.m. Whoever is appointed will serve out the remainder of Wiley’s current term, which ends at the end of 2024.
To be eligible, candidates must be a registered Republican living in Commissioner District 3, which is the southern part of the county, excluding Vernon but including Eckley.
Anyone with questions can contact Yuma County Clerk & Recorder Bev Wenger at (970) 332-5809. Maps of the commissioner districts and precinct districts can be found at yumacounty.net, under the Clerk & Recorder tab.
