YHS girls had first-ever home matches, Saturday

Yuma High School’s girls wrestling team hosted its first-ever home matches, Saturday in The Pit and Aux Pit.
It was a busy debut also as the Indians hosted Fort Lupton, Bennett and Legacy for a quadrangular.

Unfortunately, the Indians were unable to win any of the duals. First up was a match with Legacy, then a dual with Bennett, both in The Pit. The Indians closed out the day with a dual in the Aux Pit against Fort Lupton.

The Indians lost to Legacy 45-12. Fatima Duran got a 29-second pin of Courtney Tieulie at 111 pounds, and Eva Ruiz got a pin in 4 minutes, 29 seconds over Chloe Casteneda at 161. Tera Leifheit lost by fall at 100, Ashley Marshall lost a 6-3 decision at 105, Maci Daugherty lost by fall at 118, Destiny Henderson lost by fall at 127, Abril Montes de Oca lost by fall at 147, Mia Dischner lost by fall at 185, and Yaire Garcia lost by fall at 215.
There were only three matches against Bennett. Leifheit lost by fall at 100, Marshall lost a 5-3 decision at 105, and Ruiz lost by fall at 161.
Yuma wrapped up the day with a 33-12 loss to Fort Lupton. Duran won by fall at 111, and Dischner picked up a forfeith win at 185. Daugherty lost by fall at 118, Henderson by fall at 127, Mackenzie Phelps at 161, Ruiz a 3-2 loss by decision at 161, Garcia by fall at 215, and Leifheit by fall at 100.
