Lone Star’s girls basketball team will be looking to get back on the winning track in coming days.
The Class 1A eighth-ranked Longhorns are 6-3 overall after last Thursday’s loss to No. 2 Fleming. They played at Weldon Valley this past Tuesday, then have a week off before hosting Otis on Tuesday in a YWKC League game. They are 2-0 in league play.
Lone Star fell behind 15-6 at Fleming and never did recover. Alivia Weathers had 19 points and six rebounds, Aleighcea Kuntz eight points and six rebounds, Lamya Kuntz four points and four rebounds, Alison Davis four points and four rebounds, Hailey Forry three points, Amanda Kubitz two points and two steals, and Ana Lockard one rebound.

OTIS GIRLS
Otis High School’s girls basketball faces a tough challenge to snap a three-game losing streak as the Bulldogs play at Haxtun on Saturday, then travel to No. 8 Lone Star on Tuesday.
They are 2-8 overall and 1-1 in league play following this past week’s games.
Otis hosted Idalia on Friday, losing 58-33. Rowan Tribelhorn had nine points and six rebounds, Madelyn Willeke eight points and eight rebounds, Alli Hornung seven points, four assists and four steals, Hailey Stivers five points and five rebounds, Jayce Perry four points, Kayce Perry 12 rebounds and Jayce Perry one rebound.
The Bulldogs went to Caliche on Saturday, suffering a 46-31 loss after trailing just 21-17 at halftime. Otis statistics were not available.
They then ran into No. 2 Fleming this past Monday, losing 47-29 on the Wildcats’ homecourt. Otis statistics were not available.

A/W GIRLS
The Arickaree/Woodlin girls basketball team is 6-5 overall and 1-0 in YWKC League play heading into this week.
The Indian Mustangs have just one game this weekend, Friday at Bethune.
They picked up two wins last weekend, starting with a league victory at Hi-Plains, 42-38, last Friday. They ran out to a 22-10 lead and never looked back. Joselyn King had 14 points, three rebounds and three assists, Tori Arfsten seven points and 11 rebounds, Wynter Van Ness seven points, nine rebounds and four steals, Lilly Monat five points, three rebounds and three assists, Raeya Schrock four points, Cora Schrock two points and six rebounds, Julisa Quinteros two points and 12 rebounds, and Janice Kalcevic one point.
A/W then won 51-20 in a non-league game at Flagler, Saturday, running out to a 17-3 lead in the first quarter. King had 25 points and two rebounds, R. Schrock seven points and 10 rebounds, Arfsten six points and 10 rebounds, Keyli Vazquez four points and two rebounds, Gracie Monat three points and five rebounds, McKenna Jesse two points and two rebounds, Van Ness two points and five steals, and C. Schrock two points and three rebounds. Kalcevic added three rebounds, Monat five rebounds, and Gabriell Hermes one rebound.

OTIS BOYS
The Otis High School boys basketball team is at Haxtun on Saturday after splitting two games last weekend.
The Bulldogs also are at neighboring Lone Star on Tuesday for a league game. They are 5-4 overall, 1-1 in YWKC League play.
Otis hosted Idalia last Friday. The Bulldogs had beat the Wolves in December, but the visitors returned the favor last Friday, handing Otis a 66-35 loss. Charlie Kendrick had 21 points and six rebounds, Jack Willeke 10 points and eight rebounds, JJ Ward two points and three rebounds, Kaleb Jones two points, Erick Thorn five rebounds and four assists, Sawyer Packer two rebounds and three assists, Taylor Ringlein two rebounds, and Jacob Perry and Garret Patterson one rebound each.
The Bulldogs went to Caliche, pulling out an exciting 52-49 win. Kendrick had 19 points and 10 rebounds, Willeke 18 points and 13 rebounds, Thorn seven points and two rebounds, Ward six points and three rebounds, Ringlein two points and two assists, Packer seven rebounds and three steals, and Ringlein two assists, Jones one assist, and Patterson one assist.

LONE STAR BOYS
Lone Star’s boys basketball team entered this week looking to build on its win total.
The Longhorns, 1-8 overall and 1-1 in the YWKC League, were at Weldon Valley this past Tuesday. They host Peetz on Friday, the welcome Otis to town on Tuesday for a league game.
Lone Star gave it a good run last Thursday at Fleming. The Longhorns led 30-24 at halftime before eventually losing 50-47. Lone Star stats were not available.

A/W BOYS
Arickaree/Woodlin’s boys basketball team entered this week with a 5-6 overall record, 0-1 in YWKC League play.
The Indian Mustangs have a league game at Bethune on Friday after splitting last weekend’s games.
It began last Friday with a 51-47 league loss at Hi-Plains. A/W led after the first quaeter, but Hi-Plains did just enough to pull away down the stretch. No Arickaree/Woodlin stats were available.
The Indian Mustangs rebounded from the loss with a 59-24 non-league win at Flagler, Saturday, No statistics were available.
