1A track and field, and baseball

Arickaree’s track and field teams got their season started last Saturday at the University Bulldog Invitational in Greeley.
The boys came through with a solid effort, scoring 18 points to place 14th in the 28-school field.
Jacob Jefferson led the way, placing second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.67 seconds. He placed third in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.53 seconds.
Hayden Page rounded out the scoring by placing fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.02 seconds. Layla Wagers was the only girl to compete for Arickaree.

Lone Star
The Lone Star track and field teams finally got to compete last Saturday at the University Bulldog Invitational in Greeley.
The boys scored four points, courtesy of Addison Weathers placing seventh in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.92 seconds, and Wyatt Cochran placing seventh in the shot put with a heave of 43-foot-8.
Jade Kuntz scored the girls’ one point by placing eighth in 7-foot-6.

Otis baseball keeps rolling
The Otis High School baseball team improved to 6-0 with a pair of wins over the past week.
The Bulldogs, ranked No. 9 in the Class 1A Top 10, has a doubleheader Saturday Stratton.
They played at Briggsdale last Friday, cruising to an 18-4 win. Otis actually trailed 4-3 after three innings. However, the Bulldogs then erupted for 15 runs in the top of the fourth.
JJ Ward had two doubles among his four hits with four RBI and three runs, Austin Hornung had a triple and a double with two RBI and two runs, Peyton Wells had two hits with four RBI and two runs, Tayte Smith had a double among this two hits with two RBI and three runs, Maddox Hisam one hit with one RBI and two runs, Daniel Reese one hit with one RBI and one run, Paxton Davis a two-run double, and two runs, Mitchell Stivers a two-run single and one run,, and Carter Wells one hit and two runs.
Ward went the distance on the hill for the pitching win. He struck out eight and walked two, allowing four earned runs on four hits.
Otis hosted Weldon Valley on Monday, winning 20-0 in a game that lasted just 2-1/2 innings. The Bulldog had 12 runs in the first and eight in the second. Kaleb Jones went two innings on the hill, striking out three and walking three, and Paxton Davis struck out two and walked two in one inning. Neither allowed a hit.
P. Wells had a double among his four hits, with three RBI and three runs, Ward two doubles among his three hits with three RBI and three runs, Smith a one-run double and one run, Hisam a one-run double and two runs, Reese two hits, one RBI and two runs, Tayshaun Thomas one hit and one RBI, Jones two hits, two RBI and two runs, Stivers a one-run single and two runs, E. Varela one RBI, C. Wells two runs, Matthew Seward a one-run single, and Garrett Patterson one run.
