Yuma County Softball saw its season end in the first round of the 3A 32-team state tournament.
YCS went to Lyons last Saturday and was no-hit in a 13-0 loss to the Lyons, striking out nine times. Lyons scored three runs in the first, four in the second, three in the third and three more in the fourth.
YCS finished with a 13-11 record and the Lower Platte title.
Lamar won its first game in Lyons, then knocked off the Lions 4-2, but both advance to the 16-team quarterfinal bracket that will play out Friday and Saturday at the Aurora Sports Complex. University is the top seed. Lyons is the 10th seed and will open against Strasburg. Teams of local note, Brush is the sixth seed and opens against Delta, and Sterling is the 15th seed and first plays second-seed Eaton.
