Otis High School’s boys basketball team started the new year with a pair of wins last week.

The Bulldogs improved to 5-2 with a 63-52 win at Haxtun this past Tuesday. They host Idalia on Friday, go to Cheyenne Wells on Saturday and travel to Caliche on Tuesday.

They returned from the holiday break last Friday with a 66-36 win at Bethune. Otis ran out to a 25-11 lead and was up 46-17 by halftime. Otis statistics were not available.

The Bulldogs cruised to a 45-26 home win last Saturday against Fleming. They led 28-8 at halftime. Cambric Klinzmann had 11 points and nine rebounds, Grady Bechtle 10 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and five blocks, Austin Hornung nine points, Mitchell Stivers four points and five steals, Gracen Bechtle four points and three rebounds, Dalton DeMers four points, Gracen Bechtle three points and six rebounds.

ARICKAREE

Arickaree’s boys basketball team was 4-3 heading into this past Tuesday’s home game against Peetz.

The Bison host Weldon Valley today, January 15, and at Hi-Plains on Friday.

They split their first two games in 2026, last weekend.

They returned from the holiday break with a 41-33 loss at Prairie last Friday. A 17-5 fourth helped trim the final margin. Jackson Cordell had 14 points and five assists, Austin Wright 10 points and six rebounds, Bradley Hermes six points and three assists, Wyatt Sperry three points, Daniel Goff eight rebounds, and Jack Coraor two rebounds.

Arickaree rebounded for a 59-45 win at Flagler last Saturday, leading 31-16 at halftime. Cordell had 20 points and two rebounds, Wright 16 points, 14 rebounds and five steals, Coraor 11 points and two rebounds, Hermes nine points, five rebounds and five steals, Collin Codman two points, Colten Hermes one point and two rebounds, Goff 11 rebounds, and Lucian Kumke two rebounds.

LONE STAR BOYS

The Lone Star boys basketball team began the new year by picking up its first two wins of the season.

The Longhorns are 2-6 heading into Friday’s game at Briggsdale.

They returned from the holiday break last Friday with a 50-38 home win over Hi-Plains. The Longhorns rallied 27-10 in the second half for the win. Anderson Weathers had 19 points and nine rebounds, Henry Glenn 11 points and three rebounds, Jack Glenn nine points, seven rebounds and four assists, Riley Sherwood five points and two assists, Aden Glenn four points and three rebounds, Will Mollohan two points, and Trevor Schoepner eight rebounds.

Lone Star carried the momentum to Saturday for a 58-40 win at Deer Trail. Weathers had 23 points, nine rebounds, four assists and six steals, J. Glenn 13 points and seven rebounds, Sherwood seven points and five rebounds, H. Glenn six points and eight rebounds, Ian Pastor four points and five steals, A. Glenn four points and four rebounds, and Brock Fisher six rebounds and four assists.

LONE STAR GIRLS

Lone Star’s girls basketball team is 4-5 heading into Friday’s game at Briggsdale.

They Longhorns returned from the holiday break last weekend by splitting their first two games of 2026.

First up was a 48-37 home loss to Hi-Plains. Statistics were not available.

They rebounded with a 56-40 win at Deer Trail on Saturday. Lone Star statistics were not available.

The Bulldogs were at Haxtun this past Tuesday, host Idalia on Friday, travel to Cheyenne Wells on Saturday and hit the road to Caliche on Tuesday.

They returned from the holiday break last Friday with a 67-10 win at Bethune.

Mireia Fernandez had 17 points and four steals, Madison Reynolds 10 points and three steals, Lydia Willeke nine points, seven rebounds and three assists, Kensley Packer eight points and four steals, Ashton Gross eight points and five rebounds, Marley Muncy seven points and seven rebounds, Faye Schaffert four points and five rebounds, Hattie Prize two points, Reya Grimes-Routh two points and Autumn Maggard five rebounds.

Otis was home on Saturday, losing 45-34 to Fleming. Fernandez had 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists, Packer nine points and 10 rebounds, Willeke six points and 13 rebounds, Reynolds four points and three assists, Gross two points, and Grimes-Routh one point and five rebounds.
