Delores “Ann” Mekelburg 1939-2020

On Friday, September 4th, 2020 Ann Buchmeier-Mekelburg, loving wife, mother & grandmother passed away at the age of 81 at the Yuma District Hospital.
Ann was born June 16th, 1939 in Topeka, Kansas to Ivan Harold, Sr. and Ruth Cashman. Ann grew up and spent most of her life in the Topeka area and graduated from Seaman High School in 1957. Ann married Marvin Buchmeier June 16th, 1957 of this union five children were born; Mark, Michael Myron, Marty and Marilyn. Marvin passed away March 4th, 1981. Ann married LeRoy Mekelburg of Yuma, Colorado on March 20th, 1993. Ann welcomed four more children into her family; LeRoy, Jr., Lorinda, Lana and Lynn.
Ann’s passions were her family, traveling to the mountains, collecting rocks from all the places she visited to put in here fish pond, creating and owning several ceramic shops, golfing, church and her beloved Kansas City Chiefs. Ann worked at the Yuma District Hospital for several years in the Dietary Department. Ann was known for her orneriness and quick wit and was loved by all that met her.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan, Sr. and Ruth Cashman; brother, Ivan Harold Cashman, Jr. and her son, Michael Buchmeier.
Those left to cherish her memory is her husband, LeRoy Mekelburg; their eight children, Mark (Sondra) Buchmeier and Myron Buchmeier both of Topeka, Kansas; Martin (Jodi) Buchmeier of Overbrook, Kansas; Marilyn (Lenny) Blocker of Topeka, Kansas; LeRoy, Jr. (Laurie) Mekelburg of Henderson, Colorado; Lorinda (Paul) Kinlaw of Otis, Colorado, Lana Rogers of Otis, Colorado and Lynn (Esther) Mekelburg of Eckley, Colorado along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
There was a memorial service on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Yuma, Colorado with Pastor Don Lopes officiating. Ann then traveled back to Topeka, Kansas where graveside services will be held on September 18, 2020 at 1:30 a.m. at the Half Day Cemetery.
