Dennis Lyle Mumm 1931-2022

Dennis Lyle Mumm was born August 4, 1931 in Abarr, Colorado to William Christian and Alta May (Otta) Mumm. He passed away on February 10, 2022 from sepsis at home.
He attended Valley School near Abarr until the 8th grade, where his mother was his teacher. He graduated from Yuma Union High School in 1949.
He served active duty in US Army from August 11,1952 until June 17, 1954 during the Koren War. During this time he received several medals
While he was the commanding officer in Pusan, Korea his unit received 2nd Logistical Command for exceptional meriterious service to the Republic of Korea on October 18, 1954. He completed his army duties in the Army Reserve August 10, 1960.
Dennis married Arnitta Belle Balderston, the love of his life and high school sweetheart, on July 18, 1954 in Raton, New Mexico. To this union three daughters were born Linda, Susan, and Vicky.
He was a rural mail carrier from 1961 until he retired in 1991. He was a man of many jobs and passions over the years. He worked for Herb’s Builders, raised cattle and sheep, and enjoyed a good hunting trip. He liked being the catcher on a baseball team especially with his half brothers. Through the years he enjoyed rodeo, bowling, golfing, woodworking, and horseshoes. His true passion was playing card games, over the years teaching the grand kids and great grand kids to enjoy a good game.
Dennis was a man of few words, thinking actions spoke louder than words. His hands were his best tool. A simple hand on your shoulder or a handshake let you know you were loved. He enjoyed watching the grand kids and great grand kids sporting events.
Dennis will be missed by his loving family and numerous friends. He is survived by daughters Linda (Richard) Johnson of Gays Mills, Wisconsin and Vicky (Bill) Glanz of Otis; son-in-law Eddie Baughman of Sterling. Jeremy (Denise) Johnson; Allison (Mike) Boyes; Ryan Baughman; Shannon (Mark) Brady; Daniel (Krista) Glanz; Jaret (Kathi) Glanz and Nathan Glanz; and 19 great grandchildren.
Dennis was proceeded in death by his wife Arnitta of 64 years, parents William and Alta Mumm; daughter Susan Baughman; granddaughter Lisa Krause; great granddaughter Myanna Johnson; half brothers Loren Mumm, Lloyd Mumm, Floyd Mumm and half sisters, Eva Mensendick, Vera Wilson, and Glenrose Gay.
A military funeral was held Friday, February 18, 2022 at 10:30 am. at the First Presbyterian Church of Yuma.
