First Friday art walk

The Yuma Chamber of Commerce’s First Friday Art Walk will be taking place July 7.
Work from local artists will be on display downtown at Lu Ella, Mexsu, The Orphanage, Tumbleweed/Red Willow, and Wildlee, as well as at Lu’s Gallery at 701 S. Buffalo St.
The display at Lu’s Gallery will feature the works by local students and scholarship winners of the Yuma Art Association. Alejandra Eduardo Nunez recently won $1,000 from YAA, and has numerous pieces on display. Alejandra’s older sister, Raquel, won the 2021 YAA Scholarship, and is exhibiting three works completed during her art study at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.
Furthermore, a great variety of work by the late Audrey Lechuga will be on exhibit. A prolific artist and former YAA member, Lechuga shared her passion, teaching workshops, and exhibiting her work across Colorado, including at DIA. Some of her pieces will be available to purchase via silent auction. Minimum bids will be established. Proceeds will to to the YAA scholarship fund.
Monica King will be on hand at the Gallery, serving cake and ice cream as a fundraiser for the Yuma Museum. Free will donations will be gratefully received.
Door prizes will be given via drawings.
