Helen Marie (Deterts) Brown was born on January 21, 1924 to Eert and Geskee (Stekker) Deterts in Vernon, Colorado. Helen attended school at the Vernon Lutheran School and graduated in 1942.
She married Robert E. Brown in December of 1946 in Denver, Co and together had two daughters, Sharon Kay and Jolene Grace.
Helen drove bus for the Yuma County School District, she was also a Star Route Mail Carrier for many years. Helen also helped Bob farm south of Laird, Co for over 50 years. Helen enjoyed tending to her flowers, playing cards, cribbage, and quilting.
Helen passed away on January 10, 2020 at the Hillcrest Care Center in Wray, Colorado.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents, Eert and Geskee; sister, Anna; and four brothers, Jake, Ed, Detert, and George.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Sharon and husband, Jim, and Jolene and husband, Danny; grandsons; Robbie (Katelyn); Nick (Janet); Garrett (Marina); and Cole (Rachael); great- grandchildren, Jimmy, Loni, Alton, and Connor; sister, Louise Brower of Yuma, Colorado; sisters- in- law, Gloria Jackson, Betty Jo Rogers, and Marjorie Welch; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Helen were held Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Glen Kline officiating. Visitation was at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2020.
Interment will be held in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado.
Memorials can be made to the Wray Volunteer Fire Department.
