Lula Irene Scott 1921-2020

Lula Irene (Babe) Scott was the youngest of three children born to Dallas William Eastin and Daisy Caroline (Brower) Eastin. She embarked on her life’s venture on December 23, 1921 in the small community of Mildred, CO. She spent her childhood attending school in Mildred. When the war broke out, her brother went to serve, and she stayed home to help her parents on their farm.
Afterwards, she moved to Yuma, CO where she met the love of her life, Earl Victor Scott (Scotty), who became her husband on June 8, 1948. They remained soul mates til he passed away 42 years later on April 29, 1990. They became proud parents of two daughters, Victoria Diane and Deborah Lee. She was a wonderful loving mother, spending as much tam as possible with her daughters, offering strength, guidance and above all, love.
Babe worked a variety of positions in her younger years, until she took the position of cook for the Yuma County School District. She loved being around all the students and meeting so many young people. Having the summers off allowed her to spend more time with her family. After 21 years, she retired in May of 1983. But cooking and baking was more than a profession to Babe, it was a passion. Anyone who ever knew her knows that you could not leave her home hungry, and she was always welcoming friends and family into her home.
She was a very caring, kind individual, taking care of many family members in their times of need. On holidays and special occasions she always remembered to send cards. She often said that everyone needed to make time for the little kids, the elderly and the handicapped and she practiced this in her own life daily.
She passed away on May 18, 2020 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, CO. Lula was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lural Lora (Eastin) Marshall, her brother Charles Jeneson Eastin, her husband Earl Victor Scott, her daughter Victoria Diane (Scott) Eilert, and son in law Norbert Eilert. Leaving to mourn her passing are daughter Deborah Lee (Scott) Meineke, son in law Harold Dean Meineke, grandsons Robert Dean Meineke and Scott Douglas Meineke all of Grand Junction, CO, as well as numerous relatives and friends.
