Summer meal and activity program for youth

Kids At Their Best (KATB) is excited to partner with the Rural Communities Resource Center (RCRC) for a new summer program for kids in Yuma.

KATB is a non-profit organization based in Morgan County that was recently recognized at the national level by Share Our Strength for their impressive work.
Kids At Their Best reached out the RCRC looking for a local partner in the Yuma area to help begin the same program that is already successfully happening all across Morgan County.
The program will take place at the Yuma City Park Pavilion, with the support of the City of Yuma, for seven weeks, Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Food will be provided and a daily activity too, all at no cost to parents. Registration by a parent or guardian is required.
The target age range of participants is ages 5 to 14 but anyone who registers is welcome to attend.
KATB Executive Director Jodi Walker explained, “KATB is so excited to partner with RCRC! We want to support the amazing work that RCRC is doing by opening up doors for summer meals and providing Americorps members to support what is already being done. We want a true partnership where everyone gives a little to meet the goals. We are so excited to be able to provide these opportunities to local kids for employment and connection and to expand that summer meal program into small communities.”
The Yuma program is having a kickoff event on Friday, June 2, 2023. Program staff led by Alexandra Ebersole will be at the Yuma City Park Pavilion from 3 to 5:30 p.m. to answer any questions parents have, meet the kids, and help parents register their kids to take part in the program. Come find out more.
The Yuma Public Library will be there too, registering kids for summer reading programs. Another chance to register your kids for the program will be at the
Early Childhood Council’s Child Wellness Fair on Saturday, June 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Just stop by the First Southern Baptist Church and look for the Resource Center’s table.
If you can’t make it to either event and still need to register, call the Resource Center at 848-3867 as soon as possible to schedule a time to register. The RCRC is located at 204 S. Main Street in Yuma.
