Yuma boys golf was at regional, Tuesday

Four Yuma High School golfers took a shot at state tournament berths, this past Tuesday at the Collindale Golf Course in Fort Collins.
Unfortunately, senior Brekyn Josh was unable to attend as his season ended a bit prematurely. Still, coach Benjamin Weathers took John Smith, Nash Richardson, Kyle Schuetz and JJ Ward to the Class 3A Region 3.
Yuma finished 14th in the 18-school field with a 293.
Colorado Academy won the regional title with a 234, while Holy Family was second with a 247.
Richardson led the way for the Yuma foursome, finishing 25th with an 89. He came close to qualifying for state, finishing two strokes out. Smith shot a 98 to finish 42nd, Schuetz a 106 for 53rd, and Ward a 109 for 56th.
Weathers used last Friday’s Fort Morgan Invitational as a qualifier for the fourth and final spot on the regional foursome.
Ward earned that spot by shooting a 98. Andre Baucke shot a 102, and Brodie Castillo 115. The Indians finished 13th in the 14 school field.
