Detta Ann (Scharff) Walker was born on March 20, 1931 in Upland, Nebraska to Louis and Eve Scharff. She was married in Upland, Nebraska at her parent’s home to Carl (Bud) Walker on May 7, 1950. She and Bud lived in the Joes, Colorado area. She worked at the Joes Post office. She and Bud moved to Akron in 1972. Here she worked in the Akron post office for several years. She loved being with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing games, cards and going to bingo. She was fearlessly competitive and a lot of fun to play against.
She had three daughters, Patricia, Barbara (Bobby) and Linda.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud, a grandson Justin Church, her parents, Louis and Eve Scharff, her two sisters, Pearl and Norma.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia, husband Tim Greene, grandson Tony, wife Erika and sons, Gavin and Gage; granddaughter Andrea, husband Grant Underwood and children, Sofie, Mia and Garrett.
Daughter Bobby, husband Jim Butkovich. Granddaughter Angie, husband Brandon Melkonian. Great grandson Donovan (Tyler) and wife Ariana. great granddaughter, Isabella. Grandson, Eric Church and wife Krista and daughters Caelan, Adeline, Genevieve. Great granddaughter Tessa Henry, great grandson, Judson Church and great granddaughters Shelley and Jacey Church. Granddaughter, Cassie, husband Owen Kintzley and daughter Sage. Grandson Ryan.
Daughter Linda, husband Darrell Klassen, granddaughter Ginger and husband Brady White, great grandson Trent Smelker and wife Kenzie and son Tyson, great grandson Jacob Smelker and fiancée Micah and children Jenson, Jennifer, Jaylan. Great grandsons Gabriel and Logan Schulte. Grandson Corey and wife Robyn.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church of Akron. Interment will follow at the Akron Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Akron Senior Meals, or to the First Presbyterian Church of Akron.
