Girls host quadrangular Tuesday; competed Saturday in Brush

The Yuma High School girls wrestlers got in some action Saturday at Brush High School.

They had a total of three matches against Brush. Destiny Henderson won by fall (1 minute, 4 seconds) at 127 pounds, while Maci Daugherty lost by fall at 118, and Mackenzie Phelps lost by fall at 161.
The Indians had several more matches in a dual against Mead, losing 30-24. Yuma’s only win on the mat came at 185, where Mia Dischner won by fall in 26 seconds. Picking up forfeit wins were Tera Leifheit at 100, Fatima Duran at 111, and Yaire Garcia at 215. Ashley Marshall lost by fall at 105, as did Daugherty at 118, Henderson at 127, and Eva Ruiz at 161.
They ended up tying Platte Valley, 18-18, in its third dual. Yuma’s points all came by forfeit, Marshall at 105, Duran at 111, and Dischner at 185. Leifheit lost at 100, Ruiz at 161 and Garcia at 215.
Yuma’s girls wrestlers are hosting a quadrangular on Tuesday, February 16, in the Aux Pit with Platte Valley/Brush, Stratton/Calhan, and La Junta/Lamar, beginning at 5 p.m.
