Sharon Leighton 1948-2020

Sharon Louise (Jeurink) Leighton born December 17, 1948 to Garold and Esther (Steele) Jeurink in Wray, Colorado.
Sharon started school in the one-room schoolhouse, Fairview, north of Wray. She transferred into town to Wray Elementary in the fourth grade, graduating from Wray High in the class of 1966. She went on to graduate from Central Business College in Denver the next year.
Sharon married Mick Leighton in 1967 and became a navy wife moving to Oakland, California. Just months later, Sharon moved back to Wray while Mick was in Vietnam. During that year, she worked for a local attorney, Walter Grutter. Upon Mick’s return, they moved to San Diego, California until navy life was over, moving then to Fort Collins, with moves to Wray, Grand Junction, Greeley and Loveland following.
Two daughters were born to this union, Tina in 1970 and Michelle in 1973. Having divorced in 1985, Sharon remained in Loveland working in medical offices. In 2006, she moved back to Wray to help her mother and later worked for the Rockwell Insurance Agency. Regrettably, multiple strokes forced her into retirement in July of this year.
In August, Sharon moved to North Shore Health and Rehab in Loveland and passed away November 25, 2020 at the medical Center of the Rockies. Being a strong believer in organ donation, several tissues were donated upon her passing to help others.
